WHAT. A. KICKOFF!!!
Our September Music Lab was one for the books as we launched our milestone 10th season with a very special guest: our very own Program Director, B~Free! From sharing her journey as a multidisciplinary artist to reflecting on Milwaukee’s vibrant music scene, the importance of creative community, & the power of embracing ALL of your gifts, B~Free reminded us that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to building a life in music!
And our teens? THEY SHOWED OUT!!!
Original songs, familiar covers, a full live rock band, & even returning performers stepping outside of their comfort zones to showcase entirely new talents! The diversity, courage, creativity, & sheer joy in that room were EVERYTHING. Huge love to our incredible co-host & GWML Program Assistant Brit Nicole for holding it down, our amazing teen performers for continuing to raise the bar, & everyone who helped us kick off this milestone season in unforgettable fashion!
If you missed the Season 10 premiere—or just want to relive the magic—the full livestream is available now on our YouTube channel.

RECAP: GWML + AmFAM 6TH ANNUAL SUMMERFEST COLLAB
PHOTOS BY JEN ELLIS
From the Music Lab stage...to the Summerfest stage! ✨
Every performance has a story long before the lights come on.
For JJBoAllen, it was channeling excitement through a few pre-show nerves. For Dessy, it was preparing for her very first professional performance. For Mala Māla, it was trusting the countless hours of rehearsal that brought them to this moment.
This year's 6th Annual Grace Weber's Music Lab Summerfest x AmFam Pop-Up wasn't just about performing—it was about growth, confidence, & watching three incredible artists step into one of Milwaukee's biggest stages ready to share who they are. Throughout Season 9 of GWML, JJ, Dessy & Mala Māla sharpened their craft, shared their original music, & embraced every opportunity to grow through the Music Lab community. Watching them take the stage at the AmFam House was a celebration of just how far they've come.
A heartfelt thank you to American Family Insurance, Summerfest, our incredible partners, families, volunteers, & every person who stopped by to support these talented young creatives. Opportunities like these remind us what Grace Weber's Music Lab is all about: creating spaces where young artists can grow, connect, & confidently share their artistry with the world.x To JJ, Dessy, Mala Māla, & every young artist who walked through the Music Lab doors this season—we're so proud of you. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey. Here's to many more moments like these! 🧡
